Privacy Policy
Effective 6 September 2026
My Home Desk is operated by Michael Orloff Consulting under the operating name My Home Desk, in Manitoba, Canada. The service currently supports our own household. Public account creation is disabled.
Information we keep and why
- Accounts: names, email addresses, profile photos or chosen avatars, access permissions, password hashes and, when enabled, protected two-factor authentication information. These support sign-in, account security and household collaboration.
- Home records: property details and addresses, equipment, components, suppliers and service-provider contacts, inventory, purchases, documents and images. These help organise and retrieve household information.
- Maintenance records: tasks, assignments, schedules, completion dates, status changes, explanations and notes. These support planning, shared progress and maintenance history.
- Technical information: session information, IP addresses, browser details and diagnostic logs used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service.
- Support correspondence: information you choose to send when requesting help or making a privacy request.
Household access and service providers
Other authorised household users may see records according to their property access and role. Administrators manage accounts and access. Account access is not a private vault from household administrators.
Hostinger provides hosting and email infrastructure. Information may be processed outside Canada and may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction where it is processed. Technical providers process information as needed to operate the service. We may also disclose information where required by applicable law.
Your uploads and other people's information
Only upload information you are entitled to store and share with the household. Avoid unnecessary sensitive information, such as identity documents or payment-card details. Consider the privacy of people shown in photographs or named in notes and contact records.
Cookies and browser storage
Sign-in cookies and browser storage support sessions, preferences, returning to unfinished forms and document thumbnails. See Cookies & storage for details and shared-device guidance.
Retention and removal
Home records and maintenance history remain available while needed for household use. Deactivating an account or archiving a record does not automatically erase its history. There is currently no single automatic deletion period for all records.
Backups may retain earlier copies after a live record changes or is removed. For a deletion request, we will review the affected records, shared history, backup handling and any applicable obligations, and explain what can be removed or retained.
Security
Controls include authenticated access, property permissions, hashed passwords and optional two-factor authentication. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique password, protect recovery codes and sign out on shared devices.
Access, corrections and privacy questions
You can update profile details in User Settings. For access to your information, corrections, deletion requests or a privacy concern, email support@myhomedesk.ca. We may need to verify your identity before releasing or changing information. Do not send passwords, recovery codes or private keys.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when practices change. Before opening the service to other households, we will review the policy and access arrangements. The effective date identifies the current version.
